“If I don’t have a wife, I’ll kill myself. That’s real talk. I need somebody to listen to, I’m just that person,” he said, calling himself a “soldier,” possibly referencing his need for direction. “That’s why I got married three times, ‘cos I can’t live without a wife.”

In March 2011, Tyson appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss his new Animal Planet reality series Taking On Tyson. In the interview with DeGeneres, Tyson discussed some of the ways he had improved his life in the past two years, including sober living and a vegan diet. However, in August 2013 he admitted publicly that he had lied about his sobriety and was on the verge of death from alcoholism.

In 2002, Mike Tyson faced Lennox Lewis who was then the reigning champion with WBC, IBF, IBO and Lineal titles under his belt. Despite being a favourite of the pundits, Tyson lost the bout in the eighth round facing a knock out off the right hook. Lewis who had dominated the fight since the beginning was declared the winner. Tyson took the failure graciously and lauded Lewis skill for the game.

Will Tyson’s boxing journey come to an end Saturday at Staples Center? Tyson has hinted that he might not be done. When asked by First Take’s Max Kellerman in July why he was stepping back into the ring, Tyson gave a simple answer. It’s the same reason he has fought since the very beginning, when he was getting into scrapes in Brooklyn during his childhood.

After winning his first 19 pro fights by knockout and individually unifying the WBA, WBC and IBF titles at the age of 20, Tyson proceeded to establish himself as one of boxing’s most devastating punchers, disposing of much of the sport’s top heavyweights in short order.

The next morning, I was there right on time. Barkim came up and started lecturing me. “You can’t be going out looking like a motherfucking bum in the street. What the fuck are you doing, man? We’re moneymakers.” He was talking fast, and I was trying to comprehend each word. “We’re gonna get money out here, Shorty. Are you ready?”

We cut to them at Dianes as Thomas and Ben are asleep the enter her dream, pigeon entering her “the way god intended”. They enter the dream realm as Marquess explains it’s manifestation of her fantasies. They find Diane and follow her in her dream as she picks flowers and bakes a pie. In a career (and a life) that is part tragedy/part comedy, there are a few moments in time that have defined Tyson, a larger-than-life character that we just can’t seem to take our eyes off—like the freak on the circus midway. True to form, they weren’t all events that happened in the ring.

When Pigeon can’t pay off a gambling debt, Gregor the gangster takes Mike’s daughter Yung Hee as collateral. Can Pigeon and Marquess get her back before Mike finds out she is missing? And why is mike tyson younger in Ohio giving a commencement speech?!

Tyson called this “perfect moment” for the project, citing the Legends Only League he launched last November with his exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. The pay-per-view event included other bouts and music acts.

The ending credit scene features the real Mike Tyson talking about his happy place and it involves Asparagus. I’m allergic to Asparagus though so, I can never eat that. Next week’s episode features Snoop Dogg and I’m going to try and be as drunk as possible just to sit through it.

The turning point in Tyson’s life came around 1980, after he had spent two years at a facility for juvenile offenders in upstate New York. A teacher there introduced him to a local septuagenarian and legendary boxing manager, Constantine “Cus” D’Amato. D’Amato recognized Tyson’s promise, and the teen began training in earnest for the ring. D’Amato also became a father figure for the teen, and even his official legal guardian after his mother died. When Tyson failed to win a spot on the 1984 U.S. Olympic boxing team, he decided to turn professional in early 1985. Over the next year, he knocked out seven other fighters in the first round. He became boxing’s youngest heavyweight champion when he won a World Boxing Council (WBC) match against Trevor Berbick in November 1986. Four months later, he won the World Boxing Association (WBA) belt, and later in 1987 took an International Boxing Federation (IBF) title.

Now the whole world knew it: Tyson was so mean, he could knock you down twice with one punch. And he could punch you drunk in under six minutes. And the kid was only 20, the youngest world heavyweight champion in history.
